He started his career as a fixed income portfolio manager at Aetna Life and Annuity responsible for over $4 billion in general account assets, and guided Aetna Income Shares to become one of the top-ranked bond funds in the country. He subsequently became the Chief Investment Officer of TIG Insurance and the Lead Investor in Telesoft-1, prior to joining the Carlyle Group as a Managing Director and helping build their leveraged finance operation. Thereafter at Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisors, Orest created and managed an innovative long-short fixed income fund that specialized in credit default swaps on corporate and residential mortgage-backed security debt during the financial crisis of 2007-2008. Orest is also the author of six novels that have been optioned for film development and translated into numerous foreign languages.
